2012 Social Mens Doubles & Singles Winter Competition
The Mens Doubles & Singles Winter Competition is back again in 2012.
The seeded and randomised teams were an overwhelming success last Winter and this showed in the closness of results all season and close fight for the finals positions, so as a result we will continue to do that again for this Winter.
Nominations are now open for the Winter 2012 season, so please email your David Sosnowski if you are interested in playing.
RULES
- Matches must start play by 7pm and finish by 10pm, any warm ups must be completed before 7pm.
- Doubles or singles may be played first as agreed by team captains.
- Team captains must agree prior to starting on the set matchups so that the first double is the strongest pairing followed by the next strongest second double, and the seeded players, if playing singles, must play against each other.
- With 2 players, each must play both sets of doubles, and one singles set each.
- With 3 players, each player must play two sets (either doubles or singles) each.
- Doubles consists of two pro-sets, first to 8, with a tie breaker played at 8 games all.
- Singles consists of two sets, first to 6, with a tiebreaker played at 6 games all.
- 1 point will be awarded for each set won, and a bonus 4 points for the outright win.
- If at the end of the night there is no outright winner (ie. equal on sets and games), each team will be awarded 1 point for each set won, plus 2 points for the draw.
- If delayed due to rain or any sets are not completed and time runs out, both teams will share the points for matches not played. However, if a team could not start a set due to players arriving later at 7pm they will forfeit any sets not completed to the opposition.
- At the end of the season the ladder will be decided by most amount of points accrued, then by most matches won as a team, most sets won, most games won, and if two teams are still tied it will be decided on head-to-head matches during the season in the same order above.
- The most important thing is that everyone has fun, a few laughs, plays with and against new people, and improve your tennis!
