Open Day 2010

What a fantastic day we had for Open Day 2010! Couldn't have asked for better weather after the previous weeks of rain and cold!

Was great to see many new people come along and show interest in our range of competitions. We look forward to welcoming you all to our club in the coming weeks before the Summer season kicks off.

As has been made clear in the last few weeks, we need ALL current members, or members who are interested in playing Saturday competition (juniors - morning, seniors - afternoon) to fill out a Membership Form to ensure you will be placed in a team for the upcoming season. If you were not able to attend Open Day, you MUST let a committee member know that you intend to play by Monday 30 August, as we are holding the Team Nomination Meeting on Tuesday 31 August @ 7pm.

For further information about the teams and competitions we offer please have a look at our Membership page.

This year the Tennis Committee have introduced a new junior award, called the Ann-Margret Piro Award. This award is for the most “sportsmanlike” junior of the club.

As most of you know our lovely Ann-Margret passed away in January this year. Ann-Margret was a working mum who had two son’s playing for the club who always had time to lend the club a hand. Ann-Margret was one of those people you just love having around a sporting club. She always had a very enthusiastic approach to getting things done and it was always done with a smile on her face. She took over as secretary when the club needed her and her contribution to the committee was huge, she quickly became a popular member of this group. She helped out on Open days, Presentations , Family days and fundraising. In particular, she helped out Susan when things got frantic, she was always saying “Susan you do too much, let me do it”. She was behind Santa’s visit at one of our Family Days, which was a hit with the younger players. She was court supervisor at Campbelltown last summer with Andrew Bennett and she was out there every Saturday morning making sure the nets were up and running the canteen. Ann-Margret was very good at recruiting new junior players for Campbelltown amongst her many friends and acquaintances.

She will always be thought of fondly and her loyalty to the tennis club will not be forgotten. The Tennis Committee are very proud to have this award in her honour for years to come.

Juniors: Ann-Margret Piro Award: Cody Hicks, Division 1A Boys: Dean Polisena, Division 1C Boys: Thomas Tamlin, Division 3 Boys: Ji Won Kim, Division 3 Girls: Emma Laudonia, Division 5A Boys: Giancarmine Russo, Division 5 Girls: Indi-arna Morris, Division 7A Boys: Callum Bennett, Division 9B Boys: Oscar Switala.

There are now photos up from the night in our Photo Gallery.

Our AGM was also held on the night, and the club would like to welcome the new committee for 2010/11:
